CHALLENGE
As technology continues to evolve, new CPE devices are being deployed for greater WiFi services. One MSO identified issues with these new WiFi devices creating interference on their RFoG micro nodes. The nodes were affected by signal degradation and timing issues, creating major problems for the MSO and their subscribers.
SOLUTION
Maxcom provided their MX700-3AC micro node to the MSO for evaluation in the environment. With side by side testing, Maxcom had perfect performance, while the existing node continued to have the loss of signal strength. Maxcom had identified the potential shielding issue several years prior, which lead to the superior performance.
RESULTS
As testing progressed using Maxcom micro nodes, not only was it determined the shielding was far superior when tested sided by side with other brands, but Maxcom also standardized on input wavelengths from 1525nm to 1565nm to support compatibility with a wide range of headend transmitters. As a result, the MSO standardized on Maxcom nodes which have now been deployed for
many years, and none of the nodes installed needed replacement.
